John Cann,
"The Landrum High School Athletic Department has achieved great success in recent years. Since the Fall of 2006, we have won 14 Region Championships, 9 Upper State Championships, 6 individual State titles in track and 5 team State Championships. The 2008 Fall season saw Volleyball win its 3rd Consecutive State Title; Boys Cross Country win their 1st State title in school history; Girls Cross Country place second in Region and in State Championship to Christ Church, defeating all 2A schools statewide; Girl\'s tennis make their 1st appearance in a Upper State Championship, losing to perennial State Champ, Christ Church". "In 2006-07, we won the prestigious Herald-Journal General Excellence Award as having the best overall athletic program in our area. This was the first time a 1A school had ever won the award. In 2007-08, we finished in second place behind Dorman High School which is over six times our size in enrollment. We are off to a great start in 2008-09 to hopefully win it again with two state titles this fall"! "Since 2001, we have now had 24 athletes sign to play in college, 18 on scholarships. In the past 7 years we have had well over a dozen athletes chosen for statewide All-Star games in football, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball". "Just since 2006, we have had 44 athletes named All State, 13 Region Coaches of the Year, and 2 State Coaches of the Year, with potential of more names from 2 most recent titles in volleyball and cross country". "We have a dedicated staff of coaches that put their athletes first. We strive to instill good character, good sportsmanship and a strong work ethic in our student-athletes to help them succeed in the real world. Our coaches, teams and new facilities are incredible and very much appreciated and supported by our community". |
